How to Reset the Password on a KBVISION IP Camera

As you know, IP cameras are gradually becoming everyone's choice of security solution. Using and installing them is getting simpler and simpler, and anyone can do it. However, during installation and use, you may sometimes run into typical situations — such as forgetting the device's password.

Today, KBVISION will show you how to reset the password for the KBVISION IP camera line. Let's follow along!

There are two ways to reset an IP camera: a software reset and a hardware reset. For a software reset we work on the computer; for a hardware reset we take the camera apart and work directly on the camera's mainboard.

1. Hardware Reset of the IP Camera Password Directly on the Camera

Access the reset button and press and hold

For camera lines that support a reset button — for example the KB One line or some large dome and bullet cameras — we simply reach the reset button and can reset easily.

KB One camera line:

Reach the reset button directly, press and hold until you hear a "beep," then release.

Large dome and large bullet camera lines:

Remove the cover or the protective cap over the reset button and the memory card. You will need a screwdriver and a hex key (a hex key is included in the camera box). Then press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds.

Small dome and small bullet camera lines:

These usually do not give us a reset button, so we need to work directly inside the camera's mainboard. If your camera is still under warranty, you can simply send the camera to the warranty center to have it reset.

If you want to do it yourself, proceed as follows:

Remove the back cover -> remove the front cover -> remove the IR board. At this point, look for two header holes on the mainboard marked 1 and 2.

Next, use tweezers or a piece of wire to bridge jumper pins 1 and 2 together, and plug in the power. Wait about 15 seconds, then remove the tweezers — the camera will return to its original default state. Then reassemble the camera's parts (pay attention to the orientation when reassembling the camera's components).

2. Software Reset of the IP Camera Password on a Computer (Applies to KBVISION's N2 and N3 IP Camera Lines)

Open the Config Tool software and search for the camera's IP address -> select System setting -> tick the IP address of the camera whose password you need to reset -> select Device password -> Reset password. A new window opens with 3 steps in sequence:

Step 1: Export XML: Choose the path to export the XML file -> Next (a success window appears) -> send the exported file to a KBVISION VIETNAM technician to obtain the result file.

Step 2: Import XML: Once you receive the Result file from KBVISION, open the Result file -> Open -> Next.

Step 3: Modify Password: Set the new password for the device -> Finish.
