Seagate Launches the 20TB SkyHawk AI Hard Drive for Surveillance Storage

AI-assisted image and video storage and analytics systems are taking on enormous workloads, processing and analyzing multiple streams of information and thousands of hours of video data. Understanding these challenges, leading global storage device maker Seagate Technology (NASDAQ: STX) has officially launched the SkyHawk™ AI 20TB hard drive (HDD), adding to the company's surveillance storage product range.

Purpose-built for AI-enabled network video recorders (NVRs) for edge applications, the Seagate SkyHawk AI 20TB HDD intelligently adapts to the scale of the user's AI environment, supporting up to 64 HD video streams and 32 AI streams. With its scalability for AI workloads, SkyHawk AI has the processing muscle to meet throughput challenges, handling both analytics tasks and video recording simultaneously with GPU-based analytics workloads.

Equipped with ImagePerfect™ AI firmware, the drive delivers video with consistently flawless framing while supporting heavier workloads. As an enterprise-class drive, the SkyHawk AI 20TB offers stability and high reliability with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of two million hours and a workload rating of 550TB/year — three times higher than standard surveillance drives.

The drive comes with SkyHawk Health Management, which proactively protects the user's VIA storage with preventive, intervention, and recovery features. Backed by a 5-year warranty, a 10-minute 1-for-1 replacement policy, and three years of Seagate Rescue Data Recovery Services, SkyHawk AI gives users peace of mind in the event of data loss caused by power outages, user error, and more.
