KBVISION — the renowned provider of surveillance products and solutions from the USA — has introduced its smart PIR sensor technology, built into its new HD-CVI PIR 2.0/4.0 MP (HDCVI-PIR) product line, enabling motion detection and alarms with exceptional accuracy.

What Is PIR Sensor Technology?

PIR sensor alarm is short for Passive Infra-Red sensor — a passive sensor built around infrared radiation as its stimulus. Infrared (IR) rays are the heat rays emitted by warm objects. In practice, all living bodies — humans included — always have body heat (typically around 37 degrees C), from which heat rays are formed and continuously emitted as we move around: the infrared rays.

Put more simply, when an inanimate object moves (a tree branch, a fan, a cart, etc.) or small creatures move about (dogs, cats, reptiles, etc.), a device using PIR technology will not raise an alarm — but when it senses the movement of a human body, an alert is triggered. Unlike cameras using conventional technology, where enabling the motion alarm function means the camera also registers cases such as a swaying branch or changing light, PIR technology specifically filters out false alarms, saving storage space — which also means more efficient searching in every case, since there are fewer alerts to sift through.

In addition, cameras with PIR sensors also have the function of carrying power and signals over coaxial cable, with no need to run a separate power line as with other camera types.

Applying Smart PIR Sensor Technology to the KBVISION Product Line

Recognizing the benefits of PIR technology, KBVISION has researched and developed it into the HD-CVI PIR 2.0/4.0 MP product line, under the codes below:

KX-2001C.PIR / KX-4001C.PIR

Solution applications: protecting the perimeter around a house and areas such as companies, offices… or other places like shrimp ponds and farms.
